Goodness

Small things done in love will change the world

About Good Week

Do you need help? Or do you want to help yourself?

Goodness Week is about making God's goodness available through practical goodness.

For example, it could be washing a car, mowing a lawn, cleaning a garage, hanging a lamp or painting a house – and we expect nothing in return!

Kindness is held for one week each year to give back to our community. The goal is for it to become a lifestyle and part of our culture throughout the year.

Join a kindness movement that will change the world through small things done in love!

Culture of Goodness

We believe that the spontaneous grows out of the organized. Out of the Week of Goodness grows everyday goodness. The organized helps us focus, and we get new images of how we can bless others.

The goodness effect

In The Kindness Effect (2019), we share the experiences we have gained over the years. Buy the book and bring the culture of kindness into your everyday life.

What can I do to start a culture of goodness?

  • Smile and say hello to those you meet today.
  • Next time you go to the coffee machine, bring a cup for your colleague too.
  • Tell someone you appreciate them.
  • Write a positive customer review of a local business.
  • Double today's dinner and you'll have enough for both yourself and someone going through a special time. Deliver the dinner to their door.
  • Let someone go ahead of you in line at the store.
  • Write appreciative post-it notes that you hang up in the office or classroom.
  • Give someone a good hug.
  • Make coffee and bring cups and thermoses to the playground.
  • Donate to a charity or to someone who is struggling financially.
  • Keep your eyes open for trash while you're out and about, and pick up what you find.
  • Sign up for Godhetsuka .

Goodness has shown us that we can connect with and help people we didn't know before. We get to experience the joy of giving and meet gratitude and amazement that we want to help. The church community has been strengthened by our helping people together.

Martin Olsen, Bergen

Organizing Godhet has created a practical culture of goodness in our congregation! Godhet Norway has made it very easy for us – we have received all the materials we need and have been able to share experiences from other places over the years!

Bård Boye, Jørpeland

Goodness has had a great impact on Tønsberg Free Church and has given us a tool to mean something to our city in a very concrete way. We have experienced that the congregation is strong and that the blessing back to the community is great. We have also seen the good ripple effects in Tønsberg. Many companies have contributed to Goodness Tønsberg because they want to help pass on goodness. This, in addition to the many testimonies from individuals about what Goodness has meant, means that we can truly agree with the statement "small things done in love change the world."

Morten Edvardsen, Tønsberg
